As an extension of our support to our local communities, Summerland have introduced a Mutuality Dividend Programme (MDP) for the purpose of assisting local, qualifying not for profit community groups and organisations with funding assistance.

As a member owned, mutual financial institution, Summerland Credit Union is responsible for assisting in the financial well being of its members. This extends to a responsibility to assist in the development and support of the communities in which the credit union’s members work and live.

Profits retained by the credit union are returned to its members in the form of increased levels of service and facilities, as well as to the community in the form of sponsorship, donations and other local activities.

We have provided monetary and in-kind support to over 180 charities, associations, clubs and events in the last financial year.

The MDP is designed to partner with community, sporting and industry groups in the local area. The development of this relationship allows us to develop a strong mutual association where both the community and the credit union derive mutual benefit.

The relationship has the potential to develop into a very rewarding financial return over time. Put simply, our financial contribution is directly related to the amount of loans we provide members of your organisation. Therefore, as the credit union’s loan business increases, the resultant donation to the partnering organisation also increases.
