Newcastle to Townsville Shitbox Rally extravaganza!
Summerland Credit Union is proud to announce that a member from our People and Culture team, Mallee Carter, will be taking part in the Autumn 2023 Shitbox Rally – an initiative by The Cancer Council. Shitbox Rally is the largest community lead fundraiser for the Cancer Council and is now in its 13th year. Mallee will be driving Edwina, a 1997 Ford EL Falcon, as part of the General Shenanigans campaign. The initiative is aimed at raising money for people and families affected by cancer. The Autumn Shitbox Rally contestants will travel from Newcastle to Townsville via Betoota. The Autumn Rally alone has already raised over a million dollars. Mallee has raised over $5000 to date and is hopeful this will continue to grow. You can follow her campaign via @General_Shenangians.
The fundraiser isn’t a race to the finishing line but rather an opportunity for people involved to come together and share comradery while enjoying the Australian outback. Many small towns and communities will be lifted in spirit as the drivers make pit stops along the way.
We couldn’t be prouder of Mallee and her campaign for a cause she holds dear to her heart along with so many other Australians. If you would like to get involved through donating or becoming an applicant, then head to the Shitbox Rally website.
