Lifeblood Lismore Donor Centre Reopens

It was smiles all round this morning as the Lifeblood Lismore Donor Centre reopened its doors.

The Lismore Donor Centre was hit hard by the floods earlier this year, having to be stripped and rebuilt from the ground up. This didn’t hold Lismore donors back though, with the mobile donor centre setting up nearby at Southern Cross University and visiting flood affected communities.

The newly renovated centre was opened by the Australian Governor-General, His Excellency David Hurley. The centre is an integral part of our community, helping people like Lucy (pictured above with her mum, Liz) to successfully overcome medical conditions.

If you’d like to donate, please contact Lifeblood on 131495 to book a spot. Donating is safe, easy and life changing!

How much blood do you give when you donate?

470ml. It’s about 8% of the average adult’s blood volume. Within 24-48 hours of donating, your body will have fully restored your blood volume.

How long does it take to donate?

10 minutes. But allow for an hour for the whole appointment, which includes meeting with a friendly staff member before your donation and having a complimentary snack and drink after.

How often can I give blood?

Every 12 weeks. If you’re keen to donate more often, you can give plasma every two weeks.
