Flood relief grant awarded to Northern Rivers Flood Action Group
On Sunday 11 September, we were thrilled to present the first of 37 flood grants to the Northern Rivers Flood Group.
This amazing group was granted $10,000 to go towards educating the community on how to clean, disinfect and set up their water supply to be re-used. They aim to support the community by holding monthly meetings to discuss and implement strategies that address the communities needs. It was fantastic to see approximately 100 residents at the meeting on Sunday who together work tirelessly to help rebuild the community after the devastation of the floods. The meeting finished with inspiring words from one of its committee members “Don’t despair. Never give up. We will get through this. We will make it back.”
In partnership with the Business Council of Co-operatives and Mutals (BCCM), G&C Mutual Bank and the Australian Mutuals Foundation has continued to distribute the funds as small grants and we are pleased to announce the second round of recipients. As more rain becomes a concern again on the east coast, our fundraising appeal for flood relief continues.
