Summerland Credit Union has been acknowledged as one of Australia’s top four employers for 2020 by Kincentric. The Kincentric Best Employers certification measures critical factors that differentiate extraordinary organisations through employee engagement, agility, engaging leadership and talent focus. The award is based on the most objective measure possible – employee opinion – and confirms the vibrant culture and business at Summerland.
With a staff engagement rate of 74 per cent, Summerland CEO, John Williams was delighted. “We’re honoured to be one of the best companies for employee engagement in Australia. Given the impact of COVID-19 this year, the Board and the Executive Team are incredibly proud of the resilience of our staff.
“We are an ethical organisation that will continue to support our staff in every step of their career with opportunities to grow and develop. This award reflects our commitment to one of our core values – people matter most,” added Mr Williams.
Over the last year, 34 per cent of our Banking Advisors have completed a five-month lending program, meaning that 78 per cent of all Banking Advisors are lending competent.
Additionally, a volunteer program has been developed for our staff to support not-for-profit organisations, like Summerland House Farm and the Bangalow Koalas. More recently, a ‘Mingling Maestros’ committee has been formed to nurture an online community and keep staff who are working remotely and in the office connected during the pandemic.
Summerland’s People and Culture Manager, Pamela Sinclair echoed Mr Williams and noted how Summerland’s positive culture makes attracting and retaining top talent easy. It also ensures that Summerland’s customer service is second to none, with staff making a difference to customers and in the community.
“This award reflects how connected our staff feel to Summerland, regardless of whether they’re in our branches or working from home; and endorses the people and culture strategies that makes Summerland a great place to work.”
