The good news is that there’s no minimum balance requirement for our Transaction Account. Get started with any amount, and enjoy the flexibility of managing your finances your way, without the stress of maintaining a certain balance.
Can I apply online?
Yes! Get started online in minutes with your ID at the ready. Once we’ve done a quick check of your personal details, you’ll be able to open an account.
Can I open more than one transaction account?
Yes, you can! We know that sometimes you can’t get enough of a good thing.
How long does it take to set up an account?
If you’ve got all of your correct documentation ready, online account set up can take as little as five minutes! Then you can take your time to customise your dashboard and arrange your financial life just as you like it.
Is there another way to apply, other than online?
Absolutely. Though many of our customers choose to set up their accounts in the comfort of their own homes, you can also set up an account over the phone or make an appointment at one of our branches where our friendly local staff will be happy to assist.
1. Eligibility: Must hold a current Commonwealth Senior Health card, Pensioner Concession card or Health Care card. Income must be credited to Everyday Basic account. Proof of eligibility to be provided every 3 years. Limit of one Everday Basic account per customer.
2. Eligibility: must be in receipt of a government aged, veteran or disability pension.

How do I deposit money into my account?
The most convenient way to deposit to your savings account is to transfer online using internet banking or a banking app. You can even set up round ups to boost your savings!
How often will I earn interest on my savings balance?
Interest is calculated on your balance every day, and paid to your account on the first working day of each month.
Can I withdraw money from my savings account anytime I want?
Absolutely! however if you have one of our Bonus Saver accounts you won’t recieve the bonus interest for any month you make a withdrawal.
Can I open more than one savings account?
Yes, you can! We know that sometimes you can’t get enough of a good thing.
*Account will convert to an Everyday account on turning 18.

Receiving Money - Stress-Free
We know that organising a payment into your account from overseas can seem daunting. Let us wash your worries away with our simple Inward Telegraphic Transfer service.

Receive a PDF document containing payment instructions. Send this to your payer and save a copy for yourself.

Still using SWIFT?
If you prefer using SWIFT you can still receive funds to your Summerland Bank account.
Summerland Bank’s Bank Identifier Code (BIC), sometimes known as a ‘swift code’ is ASLLAU2CSCU.
When providing your details to the payer please ensure you include the following information:
- Your full name (no intials)
- Your street address (cannot be a PO box)
- Summerland Bank’s BSB 728-728
- Your account number (not your customer number)
Important: if the transfer has been sent in a foreign currency, the intermediary bank in Australia will convert the transfer into Australian Dollars (AUD) at the foreign exchange rate applicable. When using the SWIFT network Summerland Bank is not involved in the foreign currency conversion. The intermediary bank in Australia and the overseas bank may deduct fees from the funds transferred, as these amounts are not charged by Summerland, we are unable to determine the amounts, or the exchange rate applied.
Understand your SWIFTs, BICs and IBANs
What is a SWIFT/BIC?
- SWIFT stands for Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication
- BIC stands for Bank Identifier Code
Together, a SWIFT and BIC makes up the 8 – 11 character identification code of a bank or financial institution. In an international money transfer these codes help us identify the receiving bank or financial institution, so make sure the ones you use are up to date.
When you send a payment overseas, the SWIFT/BIC code is mandatory and identifies the beneficiary (receiving) bank or financial institution. Some countries will allow the option to enter a Branch number or a SWIFT/BIC code.

How to get a SWIFT/BIC for your payment?
You can contact the person or organisation you’d like to transfer to, contact their bank or refer to their bank’s website.
What is an IBAN?
- IBAN stands for International Bank Account Number
When you transfer money overseas, some countries require you to use an IBAN.
An IBAN starts with a two letter country code and will contain between 15 and 34 letters and numbers. The length of an IBAN will differ depending on the country of the recipient. The IBAN should be presented as a continuous string of alphanumeric characters with no spaces (eg. GB29NWBK60161331926819).
Summerland Bank does not have the authority to change an IBAN, so please make sure you have the right details before sending your payment.
Australia does not use IBANs to receive payments and instead use BSB and account numbers.
How to get an IBAN for your payment
You can contact the person or organisation you’d like to transfer to, contact their bank or refer to their bank’s website.
