Linda Sparrow Awarded Conservationist of the Year

One of our local heroes has been awarded the Australian Geographic Society’s Conservationist of the Year.

Bangalow Koalas President, Linda Sparrow, is a passionate environmentalist who is leading the movement to restore and create koala habitat in the Northern Rivers.

Linda is striving to plant 500,000 trees to create an environment that will harbour and increase the koala population. Since 2019, with the help of volunteers, landholders, NGOs and the government, Bangalow Koalas has planted 215,160 trees expanding through Northern Rivers, Tenterfield, Grafton and the New South Wales/Queensland border.

From humble beginnings of a group of neighbours wanting to protect their local koalas in 2016, Bangalow Koalas has committed to creating a koala wildlife corridor and has proven to be an outstanding environmental organisation.

With still so much to be done, we urge you to support Bangalow Koalas by donating or volunteering.

Big congratulations to Linda, we are so very proud to partner with such a dedicated local organisation!
