We’re proud to share that Summerland Bank has officially achieved B Corp recertification, reaffirming our ongoing commitment to using business as a force for good.

Following our initial certification in March 2023, this milestone marks an important step in our journey as a purpose-driven, community-focused bank. Every B Corp around the world must recertify every three years, demonstrating that their business practices continue to meet the highest standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency.

Over the past two years, we’ve worked hard to embed B Corp principles into everything we do, from strengthening local communities and supporting regional resilience to developing initiatives that foster a more circular economy and protect our natural environment.

We’re proud to announce that our efforts have resulted in a 20% increase in our certification score. This improvement reflects our progress across key areas, including governance, community impact, environmental stewardship, and employee engagement.

While the recertification process was led by our Chief Operating Officer and our Community and Sustainability Manager, this achievement belongs to every member of the Summerland team. Together, we continue to prove that ethical, community-based banking can deliver real impact, for people, for our region, and for the planet.

Becoming and remaining a B Corp isn’t about reaching a destination. It’s about continuous improvement and holding ourselves accountable to the values that define us.
