On Friday 28 November, Summerland Bank will be participating in Purple Friday, a powerful initiative that takes a stand against Domestic and Family Violence and promotes Respectful Relationships.
This day forms part of the Rotary South Pacific National Day of Action, aligning with the internationally recognised 16 Days of Activism. By wearing purple, communities across Australia come together with Rotary clubs, businesses, and local organisations to raise awareness and show visible support for those affected by domestic and family violence.
2025 Campaign Theme:
Young People – The Innocent Bystanders of Domestic and Family Violence
This year’s theme highlights the impact of domestic and family violence on children and young people. While they may not always be the direct targets, they are often deeply affected — emotionally, psychologically, and socially. Raising awareness helps protect and empower the next generation through education, support, and advocacy.
Why it matters.
Domestic and family violence affects individuals, families, and entire communities. Wearing purple is a simple yet powerful way to show solidarity, spark conversations, and promote a culture of respect and safety.

How Summerland Bank is supporting
From 25 November to 10 December, our branches will be helping raise awareness and support the prevention of domestic and family violence. This year, Summerland Bank is proudly raising funds for the local charity Women Up North.
Women Up North is a Northern NSW service supporting women, children, and young people who have experienced domestic or family violence or abuse. They operate across the Northern Rivers, from Grafton to Tweed Heads.
Branches will have donation collection boxes and campaign posters to support the Purple Friday initiative and help raise awareness across our community.
We also provide information on our website for vulnerable customers, including support options and details on how Summerland Bank assists those affected.
Let us stand together and make a visible impact.💜
