We’re pleased to announce that Card Controls are now available in Summerland Bank Internet Banking and the Mobile Banking App. This new feature gives you greater control, flexibility and security when managing your debit or credit card—putting you in charge of how, when and where your card can be used.
What are Card Controls?
Card Controls are a self-service feature that allows you to manage your card settings in real time.
You can instantly update your preferences without needing to contact us—helping you respond quickly to changes, protect your account, and tailor your card usage to suit your needs.
What you can do with Card Controls
With Card Controls, you can:
Lock or unlock your card
Temporarily lock your card to stop transactions if it’s misplaced and unlock it again when you’re ready to use it.
Control where your card can be used
Choose whether your card works:
- In Australia or overseas
- For in-store purchases
- For online purchases
Manage contactless and digital wallet payments
Turn Tap & Pay and mobile wallet (e.g. Apple Pay or Google Pay) usage on or off as needed.
Manage transaction types
Block certain transaction types or locations to help protect against unauthorised activity.
Take control in real time
Make changes instantly through Internet Banking or the Mobile App—no need to call or visit a branch.
Stay informed with Card Alerts
You can also enable Card Alerts to stay on top of your card activity in real time.
With Card Alerts, you can choose to be notified when your card is used for things like:
- Contactless (Tap & Pay) transactions
- EFTPOS purchases
- Cash withdrawals
- Credit card transactions
- Transactions above a selected amount
You can select how you’d like to receive these alerts:
- Push notifications (via the mobile app)
- SMS messages
- Email notifications
Card Alerts help you quickly identify unusual or unexpected activity, giving you greater peace of mind and allowing you to take action immediately if something doesn’t look right.
How to access Card Controls
Card Controls are available in both Internet Banking and the Mobile Banking App.
In Internet Banking
- Log in to Internet Banking
- Navigate to Cards
- Select your card
- Open Card Controls to view or update your settings
In the Mobile App
- Log in to the Mobile Banking App
- Tap on your card from the home screen
- Select Card Controls
- Adjust your preferences with a simple toggle
Things to know
- Changes take effect in real time, helping you respond quickly if something doesn’t look right
- Your card remains active unless you choose to lock it—controls simply manage how it can be used
- Recurring payments (such as subscriptions or direct debits) may continue even if certain controls are applied
