Beware of impersonation scams.

Impersonation scams are designed to look real. Scammers may pretend to be your bank, a government agency, or a well-known business to try to access your money or personal information.
They often create a sense of urgency, asking you to act quickly, share details, or make a payment.

What to look out for

If something feels rushed or unusual, take a moment to pause.

Be cautious of messages or calls that ask for personal information, security codes or payments in unfamiliar ways, or include links that don’t look quite right.

How to stay safe

Slowing down is one of the best ways to protect yourself.

Avoid clicking unexpected links, never share your passwords or codes, and contact organisations directly using details you’ve looked up yourself.

If you’re unsure, hang up and call back, a genuine organisation won’t mind.

Remember, your bank will never ask you to move money to another account to keep it “safe”.

If something doesn’t feel right

Contact your bank straight away using the number on the back of your card or the official website. Acting quickly can help limit any loss. You can also report scams to Scamwatch.
